Are you looking for trusted legal guidance? PUT MY EXPERIENCE TO WORK FOR YOU

About Me

Attorney Nicole Edington siting at office desk

Working in the legal profession is one of the greatest joys of my life, as it's offered me the opportunity to provide legal counsel and support to people when they're going through extremely difficult times. As an estate planning attorney, many of my clients come to me for help when they've lost a family member or loved one. Having to juggle the responsibilities of an estate, trust distribution, or the probate process can be unbelievably stressful when you're also grieving the loss of someone you love. That's why I decided to focus on estate planning law, because I was able to witness first hand how many people are in need of trusted legal counsel and guidance during these difficult times — and I felt like I could use my knowledge and experience to help make the process a little easier.

Earning My Degree & Starting My Own Firm

My journey into the legal profession began back when I was in college at California State University, Stanislaus. At the time, I was majoring in English Literature, but was unsure of what I really wanted to do with my life beyond college. I ended up taking a criminal justice class during my senior year and I instantly became fascinated with the idea of studying law. After some careful consideration, I decided to apply for law school and, shortly after graduating with my B.A. in 1990, I was accepted into Humphreys College School of Law in Stockton, California.

For four years, I worked all day and attended classes in the evening. Through hard work and dedication, I was able to earn my Juris Doctor from Humphreys in 1995 and pass the California state bar that same year. Armed with my degree and license to practice, I knew that I wanted to begin helping people. I worked for a firm in Modesto for a few years to gain experience. In 1999, I formed a partnership with a seasoned local attorney to continue to learn and grow professionally. I decided to start my own practice so that I could personally manage my casework and devote as much of my time and energy as I could to my clients. In 2015, I opened the doors to the Edington Law Firm, Inc., a firm that would focus on estate planning services for clients across the Modesto area.

I love what I do because it gives me the opportunity to help people in need. Whether it’s planning for the future or providing guidance through a difficult time, I want to help.

Shifting Focus to Estate Planning

After 20 years of serving clients throughout Modesto and central California, I slowly began to shift my focus to the areas of estate planning, probate, and trust administration because I felt a special bond helping clients through difficult times and serving the needs of individuals and families. Now, over two decades later, I provide complete estate planning services that include:

  • Drafting and signing wills and trusts

  • Trust Administration and distribution

  • Probate and estate administration

  • Durable powers of attorney

  • Assistance with Advanced Health Care Directives

  • Petitions for succession

I decided to concentrate on estate planning services because I found it to be such a rewarding experience helping individuals and families through difficult times. I also love getting the opportunity to help people prepare for the transferring of assets to their loved ones because it often lifts a significant burden off the shoulders of those dealing with the loss of a loved one.

Ultimately I love what I do because it gives me the opportunity to help people in need. Whether it's helping them plan for the future, or simply providing guidance through a difficult time, I want to help simplify the process and relieve some of the stress involved. So if you or someone you know is looking for an experienced estate planning attorney to provide sound legal advice and guidance, contact my office today and schedule a free consultation. Whatever challenges you're facing, I am happy to help in any way that I can.
